Metro in Dino Movie Review
If we start from the review of the movie Metro in Dino. It was the clear homage to the Life in a metro especially the train chasing sequence of the Sara Ali Khan to reach to the Aditya Roy Kapoor, and saying she loves him. I straight away went to the scene of the Life in a metro climax where the character of the Konkana sen sharma chased Irfaan’s character to his wedding and express her feelings. Man! I missed Irfaan so much in this movie, I wish the director Anurag Basu sir, would have casted Babil’s character to showcase as a narrator of the movie like he did with his movie Ludo.
One thing I liked the most in Mtero in dino that the makers missed in Life in a metro was, they were not just connected but formed a family together which they reunited in the end. Konkana, Sara, Neenu Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi and Shashwata Chatterjee they were the family and on the other hand Aditya, Ali Faizal and Fatima shown as a family indeed they were friends and all of them meet together just because of the Aditya and Sara’s character as they were the center point of the movie plot.
And the philosophy of the Anurag Basu’s sir filmography that one has to be left alone in the end like they came, they became part of the story and they left or they had to left. Like in Life in a metro, Shiney Ahuja character he left alone because he fell in love with a married woman Shilpa Shetty whose husband Kay Kay Menon, slept all the time with his assistant Kangana and in the end, he apologizes because of their daughter’s future. And Shilpa Shetty refuses to be with Shiney and every character got the closure instead Shiney, so he was left alone.
In the Barfi movie, Illeana’s character left alone after Ranbir fall in love with Priyanka and in Ludo, Abhishek Bacchan’s character left alone or shall died in the end. I always assumed Pankaj Tripathi in ludo might be left alone because he was the bad guy but how beautifully he also fallen in love, he just not justified it but also he made believe in love again to his partner in the film. A goon who got a chance to change himself for someone that is why he lived and another goon who got a chance to change for himself so that he could spend his time with his family that is why he left alone, I never felt this philosophy too deeply before.
And he did it again with Metro in Dino, with the Anupam Kher’s character who was the main highlight of the movie because what he did for his daughter, I guess no one can do to anybody in his life even with his family. As, everyone wants to live a selfishness life. Anupam Kher did a selfless deed here which no one believes in today’s time. He has a history, a deep loss of his wife and son he knew but could not blame to his daughter and make a deal with his daughter’s lover to take her with him in London but her daughter wasn’t agreeing to this and so he got a chance when he meet again to his old love Neena Gupta in a reunion, told his problem to her and she acted like a cruel wife and made a chance for her daughter to leave everything behind and move on from her life.
I salute Anupam Kher here the most because no one can play this type of character ever in the history of the Bollywood. As you not only have to play but to believe in the selfless deed. Nowadays people have forgotten about the selfless deed and if a film is making us remember that then what is the issue in it to see that and believing in it.
Konkana and Pankaj, one was the guilty and other was the pleading and guess who was guilty and who was pleading? Yes, undoubtedly Pankaj was guilty and why should not be, he started an affair blindly from whom? His own wife and when he was exposed, was he ashamed? Definitely and we not only see that in his acting but also in his face as well, like for him it was not the film but happening in real life. Like we seen in kay kay’s face in the clmax of life in a metro. Every bit of an action is the completely homage to the life in a metro and I guess that is what a true cinema experience is!
Konkana, who was angry with Pankaj, who was pleading, who was giving long speeches about love, relationships, guilts, vulnerability and past faults of his own parents we all felt deeply there but as time passes by she did not feel that more but also living those scenarios and the more she was indulging, the more she was feeling guilty instead of pleading but the most comfort character Pankaj, he comforted her as well and said, I do not care what you did or what might happen for me only you and I matter that’s all. And I guess, Shashwat’s dialogue hit here “Kisi ke saath poori Zindagi guzaarne ke liye baar baar pyaar mein pardna padta hain….us hi ek insaan ke saath!!!”
Which bring me to the characters of Ali Faizal and Fatima sana sheikh. They were lovers first and became husband wife later. But the journey of Ali from a corporate slave to chasing dream of being a musician with the support of Fatima his wife, no one did this in today’s life and I guess no one think of it doing or even if they do, they are too afraid of for doing it. Because the trust, the emotion, the loyalty, the love everything matters for them first than their own passion or dream. They start to believing in being the mediocre person due to their fears and this is the thing that Ali and Fatima battles the most which led them having long distance relationship which made them learnt about the emotions they had to balance which they do not know how to do that.
The feminine energy in this film is too glam to have a learning and relatable emotion that we surpass in day-to-day life. If one can get any of the feminine person in real life, we are more blessed than we ever had been. But more than watching it I enjoy reading these types of things to feel a bit more relatable character.
A slow motion of time detects the steadiness of a person who wants to fast forward in life but still confusing about what to do next in life? Then you meet someone who not only clears the fact about what we needed but also made us realize sometimes it is better to stop chasing and enjoy the moment. Sara and Aditya make us realize this only, that wherever you are start enjoying the life a better and in a sarcasm way rather than philosophical. Like what he said. “Aajkal ka pyar bada confusing hain…it is like a cheese chinse schezwan masala dosa…..chennai se china sab cover kar liya magar raha jahi ka nahi!”. And second one, “Yeh sheher jitna humein deta hain use Kahin zyada hamari leta hain”. Sometimes I feel the same about the city i live in, Dehradun the city of the mountains and chasing the heaven but we feel it now? No, we only expect it, but why? A mystery to be resolved? No, a life just to be feel every moment with joy and happiness and more seriousness.
